The Montreal Legal Aid Community Center (Aide juridique) is looking for a legal secretary to fill a replacement position at the Criminal and Penal Legal Aid Office, located at 800 Maisonneuve Boulevard East (at Place Dupuis - Berri-UQAM metro station).

For over 50 years, we have been providing legal aid to residents of Montreal and Laval. We coordinate the activities of twelve offices and employ around 150 lawyers and 172 staff members. Every day, our mission is to inform and assist citizens in resolving their legal issues.

Your responsibilities :

  • Work in collaboration with two experienced lawyers
  • Handle reception, screening, and forwarding of phone communications
  • Manage the lawyers’ schedules, prepare and process correspondence
  • Inform clients about the progress of their cases
  • Open and update case files
  • Draft and prepare legal documents
  • Replace reception staff when necessary
  • Administer oaths to clients, witnesses, and other individuals
