Job summary

School District No. 74 (Gold Trail) is seeking a 1.0 FTE term-certain teacher for English First Peoples 10, Social Studies 10, Social Studies 9, and Personal Education Planning at Desert Sands Community School in Ashcroft, BC.

Commencing September 8, 2026 to June 30, 2027 or earlier return of incumbent. The successful candidate must hold or be eligible for BC teaching certification, possess strong assessment practices, and demonstrate commitment to Indigenous culture integration and using varied

Desert Sands Community School enrols approximately 275 students in Grades K through 12, of which 53% are of Indigenous ancestry. Desert Sands is located in Ashcroft, BC which lies on the unceded and traditional territory of the Nlaka'pamux and Secwépemc people. The school'sguides the work of the school.

Requirements And Qualifications

The successful applicant must have or be eligible for certification to teach in British Columbia and possess:

  • Qualifications and/or experience in the teaching area/grade level posted;
  • Knowledge of the BC curriculum and competencies;
  • Strong assessment practices, including assessment as and for learning;
  • Successful experience integrating local Indigenous culture and traditions into curriculum, or familiarity with and understanding of local Indigenous culture and commitment to integrate it into the curriculum;
  • The ability to use a variety of teaching and learning strategies to accommodate the learning needs of all students;
  • Successful experience integrating experiential, on-the-land and/or inquiry learning opportunities into the curriculum;
  • A proven ability to develop a positive learning environment in the classroom and evidence of strong organization and classroom management skills;
  • A commitment to and successful experience working collaboratively in a team setting;
  • A commitment to and demonstrated experience using and integrating technology into the curriculum;
  • The ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and the greater community.
Salary and Benefits
  • The salary range for full-time teaching positions within Gold Trail School District is $63,735 to $116,190 with placement in accordance with provisions in the Collective Agreement.
  • The district offers a competitive benefits and pension package.
