Job summary

ESS Canada is seeking a Second Cook to prepare and cook food for high-volume service in a Canadian setting. You will pre-cook, mise en place, and ensure quality service while maintaining safety standards.

The role requires 2+ years cooking experience in banquet/catering/restaurant environments and a food safety certification. Overtime after 8 hours and benefits after 3 months are offered. This posting notes the wage of $30.55 per hour and a 5 days on, 2 days off rotation.

Qualifications

• 2+ years proven cooking experience in a banquet, catering or restaurant setting.
• Food Safety Certification required.
• Certificate from a recognized cooking school is an asset.
• Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures.
• Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks.
• Familiar with industry’s best practices.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.

Responsibilities

Ensures quality food service is provided at all times.

• Prepare "mise en place" (setting in place of foods, garnishes, sauces, dishes, cutlery, etc) and other products as required for high volume production.

• Reports needed maintenance, faulty equipment or accidents to the supervisor immediately.

Position Requirements:

• Pass a Drug & Alcohol Test
• Rotation: 5 Days on 2 Days off
• Shift: Monday-Thursday 5:30am-2:30pm, Friday 5:30am-4:30pm
