Job description

Birch Mountain Enterprises LP (BME) is looking for candidates interested in being listed for Seasonal work for different positions throughout the year. Please be sure to complete the questionnaire through the application with your details and submit your current safety tickets (e.g., OSSA, CSTS, CSO, Fall Pro, Confined Space, etc.) with your resume.

There are a variety of schedules and locations available throughout the year, some with accommodations provided and some without, depending on the site and contract. Depending on the position, seasonal work is available for anywhere from a few weeks to 6 months.

Operating from its main operations in Fort McKay, BME provides vac, water, waste, fuel, and flatbed hauling services to industrial and commercial customers.

Available Positions:
  1. Class 1 or 3 Operators:
    Must be TDG knowledgeable, with a minimum of 3 years manual transmission experience and previous fluid hauling (water, sewer, and fuel), combo vac, hydrovac, steam truck, high pressure trucks, B-trains, ice road building, and winter drilling.
  2. Washbay Labourer:
    Possess a valid Class 5 operator’s license (Air Brakes is an asset) with a clean driver’s abstract. Clear work areas by removing debris and hazardous materials and assist in waste disposal and recycling activities. Operate high-pressure monitor for steam cleaning. Steaming equipment in all weather conditions with pressure washer while wearing full PPE and rain suit.
  3. HSE Advisor:
    Active NCSO certification or OHS Cert/Diploma. Minimum 5 years of industry experience. Minimum 2 years experience in the safety field. Familiar with the oil sands industry. Possess a valid Class 5 operator’s license with a clean driver abstract. Must be highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). A proficiency test may be required. Clear and precise verbal and written communication skills. Be a solution-oriented individual who can work both independently and with minimal supervision, within a team environment.
  4. Heavy Duty Mechanic:
    Candidates shall have knowledge of all aspects of heavy spec trucks (on road) with preference given to those that possess experience with water, vac, high pressure, and flusher units. Must be certified as a Journeyman Heavy Equipment Technician (min 3 years heavy truck experience). Possess valid driver’s license (min class 5) with a clean abstract. Be knowledgeable in all aspects of heavy truck repair including, but not limited to hydraulic, electronic, suspension, and computer diagnosis. Previous or related experience with water, vac, and steam trucks preferred. Clear verbal and written communication skills.
  5. Steam Truck Operator:
    The minimum requirement for this position is a Class 5 license with Air Brake (Q) Endorsement and a clean driver’s abstract. Operation of a high-pressure steam truck - washing heavy equipment and light duty vehicles. Experience operating high pressure steam truck. Clear verbal and written communication skills.
