Job Description

The contract runs from April to the end of October. Responsibilities include:

  1. Grass Maintenance: maintaining town-owned property, mowing lawns, trimming.
  2. Special Events: setting up and taking down equipment, supporting recreation during events, maintaining downtown area.
  3. Horticulture: gardening tasks such as weeding, planting, pruning, watering shrub beds and planters.
  4. Cultural Field Maintenance: maintaining sports fields, including mowing, fertilizing, paint lining, and diamond dragging.
  5. General Parks: park maintenance, playground repairs, inspections, and general construction.
  6. Forestry: caring for trees along boulevards, trails, and parks, including trimming, pruning, and removal.
Job Requirements
  1. High School education or equivalent with formal parks-related training or experience.
  2. Class “G” Driver’s Licence in good standing; DZ preferred for equipment operation.
  3. Experience in municipal parks, horticulture/forestry, or sports field/turf maintenance.
  4. Flexible availability including evenings and weekends.
  5. Ability to follow directions, work independently, and handle situations appropriately.
  6. Ability to read and understand WHMIS labels, manuals, logs, and incident reports.
  7. Knowledge of health and safety regulations and WHMIS procedures.
  8. Ability to operate parks equipment such as trucks, trailers, mowers, tractors, and snow removal tools.
  9. Effective communication skills with staff, park users, and the public.
  10. A Police Vulnerable Sector Check is required.
