Job summary

Dawson Road Maintenance currently seeks Seasonal Operators holding a Class 1 or 3 license to clear snow and ice, and maintain road safety across multiple BC communities. You will report to the Road Foreperson and work in a temporary, full-time capacity with travel across Williams Lake, Likely, Horsefly, and surrounding areas.

This role emphasizes safety, collaboration, and physical labor with opportunities for skill development and advancement within a family-owned company.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years road maintenance/construction experience.
• Valid Class 1 preferred, or 3 Driver's license required.
• Two years commercial driving experience is an asset.
• Experience with snow removal is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment on roads and during winter conditions.
• Follow Supervisor daily production schedule and activities.
• Maintain daily work logs and reports.
• Perform related road maintenance tasks (pothole patching, signage, cleaning).
• Chain up wheels when conditions require; conduct basic maintenance.

Job description

Dawson Road Maintenance is looking for Seasonal Operators, holding a Class 1 or 3 license, who will skillfully navigate frozen roads, clearing snow and ice, along with other duties to ensure our roadways are safe for all travelers.

In this role you will be a valued member of Dawson Road Maintenance, working in a temporary, full-time position of Seasonal Operator, reporting to the Road Foreperson. This position requires an experienced operator to meet company production objectives and work within specified tolerances We are currently hiring in Williams Lake, Likely, Horsefly, Alexis Creek, Tatla Lake, Anahim Lake, and Bella Coola, B.C and may require some travel throughout our great province.

NOTE: THIS IS NOT A FLY IN FLY OUT.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

• Must prioritize safety of self and others in all aspects of the job
• Work collaboratively with all team members to successfully complete tasks at hand, and other day to day duties to keep our roads and service area safe and clean
• Ability to perform unskilled manual work requiring little previous training or experience but involving physical effort
• Operate heavy equipment in all weather conditions, on public roadways in a safe and appropriate manner
• Follow direction of the Supervisor regarding daily production schedule and activities
• Maintains a daily activity of work in progress and status of completion
• Maintain proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment
• Complete all work reports and maintenance logs
• Chain up wheels whenconditions require
• Perform other roadmaintenance tasks as required, such as, but not limited to: potholepatching, yard and shop housekeeping, sign and bridge maintenance andcleaning
• Perform minorpreventative maintenance tasks, including greasing

WHAT YOU BRING

• Minimum two (2) years of road maintenance and/or construction experience
• Valid Class 1 preferred, or 3 Drivers license is required
• Two (2) years commercial driving experience is an asset
• Experience in snow removal is considered an asset
• Knowledge of road construction materials, road construction processes and industry requirements
• Heavy Equipment Operating Certificate an asset
• Able to manage electronic reporting using tablets
• Minor equipment maintenance
• Be physically able to complete a commercial vehicle trip inspection
