Job summary

Dawson Road Maintenance is seeking Seasonal Operators with a Class 1 or 3 license to patrol frozen roads, clear snow and ice, and support road safety across our service area in Williams Lake, Likely, Horsefly, Alexis Creek, Tatla Lake, Anahim Lake, and Bella Coola, BC.

You will report to the Road Foreperson, complete daily reports, and assist with maintenance tasks such as pothole patching, sign and bridge work, and equipment upkeep, with travel within the province as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years of road maintenance or construction experience.
• Valid Class 1 license preferred, or Class 3 license required.
• Two years of commercial driving experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment on roads in all weather conditions.
• Perform road maintenance tasks, such as pothole patching and sign/bridge upkeep.
• Complete daily work reports and maintenance logs.
• Chain up wheels when conditions require.
• Assist with yard and shop housekeeping and routine maintenance.

Job description

Dawson Road Maintenance is looking for Seasonal Operators, holding a Class 1 or 3 license, who will skillfully navigate frozen roads, clearing snow and ice, along with other duties to ensure our roadways are safe for all travelers.

In this role you will be a valued member of Dawson Road Maintenance, working in a temporary, full-time position of Seasonal Operator, reporting to the Road Foreperson. This position requires an experienced operator to meet company production objectives and work within specified tolerances We are currently hiring in Williams Lake, Likely, Horsefly, Alexis Creek, Tatla Lake, Anahim Lake, and Bella Coola, B.C. and may require some travel throughout our great province.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

• Must prioritize safety of self and others in all aspects of the job
• Work collaboratively with all team members to successfully complete tasks at hand, and other day to day duties to keep our roads and service area safe and clean
• Ability to perform unskilled manual work requiring little previous training or experience but involving physical effort
• Operate heavy equipment in all weather conditions, on public roadways in a safe and appropriate manner
• Follow direction of the Supervisor regarding daily production schedule and activities
• Maintains a daily activity of work in progress and status of completion
• Maintain proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment
• Complete all work reports and maintenance logs
• Chain up wheels whenconditions require
• Perform other roadmaintenance tasks as required, such as, but not limited to: potholepatching, yard and shop housekeeping, sign and bridge maintenance andcleaning
• Perform minorpreventative maintenance tasks, including greasing

WHAT YOU BRING

• Minimum two (2) years of road maintenance and/or construction experience
• Valid Class 1 preferred, or 3 Drivers license is required
• Two (2) years commercial driving experience is an asset
• Experience in snow removal is considered an asset
• Knowledge of road construction materials, road construction processes and industry requirements
• Heavy Equipment Operating Certificate an asset
• Able to manage electronic reporting using tablets
• Minor equipment maintenance
• Be physically able tocomplete a commercial vehicle trip inspection
