Qualifications

Seasonal Line Cook - Lake Manitoba Resort (St Laurent, MB)

The Manitoba Métis Federation (MMF) is the democratically elected National Government of the Red River Métis, also known as the Manitoba Métis. The Red River Métis are a distinct Indigenous Nation and People, and Canada's Negotiating Partners in Confederation and the Founders of the Province of Manitoba.

The MMF seeks to fill one full-time Seasonal Line Cook position within our Lake Manitoba Resort located at 90133 St Veterans Memorial Drive in St Laurent, MB. The Line Cook plates dishes and completes basic food prepping tasks for the restaurant.

• Prepare and cook menu items such as dressings, sauces, appetizers, sides, and entrees;
• Prep, wash, and chop meal components for larger dishes;
• Plate meals according to the instructions of the executive chef;
• Wash and sanitize dishes, utensils, and other kitchen equipment;
• Clean prep station and put away equipment;
• Maintain a clean and sanitized kitchen environment;
• Help manage food inventory which includes rotating stock and putting away orders;
• Ensure all food presentations meet restaurant's specifications and commitment to quality;
• Assist with dishwashing when necessary.

Skills and Qualifications:

• One years' experience as a line cook, restaurant cook, or prep cook is an asset;
• Experience working with Rational ovens is an asset;
• Certificate in Culinary Arts is an asset;
• Food Handlers Certificate is an asset;
• Experience with various cooking methods and procedures;
• Familiar with industry best practices;
• Strong organizational, problem solving and multi-tasking skills;
• Experience working for a not-for-profit organization and Indigenous community is an asset;
• Knowledge of Red River Métis culture, and MMF programs and services is a definite asset; and,
• Ability to travel, valid Manitoba Driver's license with access to a reliable vehicle.
