Job summary

METRO in Huntsville, Ontario is seeking a Seafood Clerk to keep the seafood department fresh, well-stocked and inviting. You will interact with customers, share cooking tips, and ensure product quality.

The role requires physically able to lift 30-50 pounds, stand long hours, and work flexible shifts including nights, weekends and holidays. Prior retail or food-handling experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Maintain storage conditions, including temperature and sanitation.
• Assist customers with product selection, cooking tips and storage advice.
• Answer customer inquiries and resolve concerns promptly.
• Keep the seafood department clean and organized, including sanitizing work areas.
• Dispose of waste and follow food safety guidelines.
• Monitor inventory levels, perform counts, and report discrepancies.
• Ensure accurate labeling and pricing of seafood products.
• Update signage for promotions and seasonal items.
• Follow safe handling procedures and report safety concerns.
• Collaborate with other departments and assist with promotions.

What You’ll Do:

• Assist with special promotions, events, or projects as assigned.
• Collaborate with other departments when necessary.
