Your Role
As the Sea Logistics Operational Care Specialist, you are responsible for managing all day-to-day activities for the transportation of goods, including perishable products from port of destination to final consignee. Your responsibilities include communicating with sea freight carriers, co-loaders, truckers, customs brokers, and other vendors. You will provide solutions for discrepancies, holds, or delays in the movement of goods and will actively communicate with the Operational Customer Care team. Your focus is on operational excellence supported by clear KPIs, with the goal of delivering exceptional customer service and ensuring transparency and neutrality across all Canadian branches.
Your Responsibilities
- Ensure the smooth flow of shipments and resolve discrepancies
- Arrange transportation/shipping documentation, oversee scheduling and dispatching, and monitor the movement of goods
- Coordinate delivery to final destination or handover to third parties
- Communicate with sea freight carriers, co-loaders, SDS, truckers, customs brokers, and other service providers
- Arrange rush cheque payments and provide COD invoices for collection
- Work closely with Customer Care teams and proactively notify them of holds, delays, and deviations
- Create and update internal account handling instructions
- Perform credit checks and resolve missing credit approvals
- Enter all costs and sell rates promptly to ensure file profitability and timely billing
- Manage data, link QT quotes for shipments, and file all required documents
- Adhere to department KPIs to ensure customer satisfaction
- Arrange insurance coverage for cargo and gather claim documents if needed
- Ensure temperature settings are correct for reefer shipments
Your Skills and Experiences
- High School Degree/Diploma in supply chain management or a related field
- 3+ years of experience in Sea Logistics Imports and Freight Forwarding
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially advanced Excel skills; administrative/data entry experience required
- Certification in CIFFA, CITT, or equivalent is preferred
- Knowledge of operational aspects, market expertise in sea freight products, incoterms, and payment terms
