Your work also helps ensure that vital medicines reach patients on time and supports other essential deliveries, from wind turbines to semiconductors. As the Sea Logistics Operational Care Specialist, you are responsible for managing all day-to-day activities for the transportation of goods, including perishable products, from the port of destination to the final consignee. Your responsibilities include communicating with sea freight carriers, co-loaders, truckers, customs brokers, and other vendors. You will provide solutions for discrepancies, holds, or delays in the movement of goods and will actively communicate with the Operational Customer Care team. Your role focuses on operational excellence supported by clear KPIs. Your goal is to deliver exceptional customer service and ensure transparency and neutrality towards all Canadian branches.

How you create impact

  • Ensure the smooth flow of shipments, resolving discrepancies in movement
  • Arrange transportation/shipping documentation, oversee scheduling and dispatching, and monitor movement of goods
  • Coordinate delivery to final destination or handover to third parties
  • Communicate with sea freight carriers, co-loaders, SDS, truckers, customs brokers, and other service providers
  • Arrange rush cheque payments and provide COD invoices to CCL for collection
  • Work closely with Customer Care teams, proactively notifying them of holds, delays, and deviations
  • Perform credit checks and resolve missing credit approvals
  • Record all costs and rates promptly to ensure file profitability and on-time billing
  • Manage data, linking QT quotes for each shipment and filing all required documents electronically
  • Adhere to department KPIs to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Arrange cargo insurance coverage and gather claim documents if involved in claims
  • Ensure temperature accuracy for reefer shipments

What we would like you to bring

  • High School Degree / Diploma in supply chain management or a related field
  • At least 2 years of experience in Sea Logistics Imports and Freight Forwarding
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel; administrative and data entry skills required
  • Certification in CIFFA, CITT, or equivalent is preferred
  • Knowledge of operational aspects, market expertise in sea freight, incoterms, and payment terms is preferred
