Scrum Master
The Scrum Master will work with Business Product Owner(s) and IT Delivery Manager(s) to ensure the continuous delivery of a working solution that provides the highest value for the business each release.
- Coach the team in Agile best practices to promote self-organization and cross-functionality, especially in organizations new to Agile frameworks.
- Lead multiple engagements in a cross-functional environment including IT, Compliance, Procurement, etc.
- Remove impediments to the team’s progress towards Sprint commitments, including managing external requests by redirecting them to the Product Owner.
- Plan and facilitate Scrum ceremonies such as Sprint planning, retrospectives, and daily stand-ups.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance team productivity and deliverable quality.
- Ensure the team executes and delivers on Sprint and release commitments.
- Support effective Product Backlog management and help create clear, concise Backlog items.
- Lead and coach the organization in Scrum adoption and manage change effectively.
- Report KPIs, metrics, financials, risks, and issues to the PMO.
- Build productive relationships within and beyond the team, fostering open communication to surface issues promptly.
- Remove obstacles or escalate them to the Product Owner for resolution.
- Manage multiple engagements simultaneously, maintaining focus on critical deliverables.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across roles and levels, including business, Compliance, Legal, and IT.
Experience
- At least 4 years of Scrum Master experience.
- Over 4 years of software delivery experience in large enterprise organizations.
- Experience with multiple Agile frameworks.
- Expertise in Scrum, with CSM certification.
- Proficiency with Agile Planning Tools (JIRA, Confluence, Kanban Boards).
- Knowledge of Agile concepts such as User Experience, Design Thinking, Kanban, and Extreme Programming.
- Strong leadership, facilitation, conflict resolution, and transparency skills.
- Ability to influence and lead teams and stakeholders at all levels, including executives.
- Excellent communication, listening, coaching, and facilitation skills.
- Experience in fast-paced environments with changing priorities.
- Proven problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Solid understanding of financial services products and processes (e.g., loan processing, collections, underwriting).
- Strong interpersonal, stakeholder, and vendor management skills.
- Excellent team-building capabilities.
- Experience in risk management.
This is a minimum 6-month contract located in downtown Toronto, with a hybrid work model (3-4 days remote per week).
