The Toronto Central Regional Cancer Program (TCRCP) is responsible for implementing provincial standards and programs for cancer care and ensuring service providers meet the requirements and targets set out in their partnership agreements with Cancer Care Ontario. The TCRCP consists of the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre at University Health Network and Odette Cancer Centre at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre as well as five partner hospitals that provide and support cancer care in the region.

The Cancer Screening Program oversees the delivery of cancer screening services in the Toronto Central Region for the Ontario Breast Screening Program (OBSP), ColonCancerCheck (CCC), Ontario Lung Screening Program (OLSP) and the Ontario Cervical Screening Program (OCSP). These programs seek to support population-based screening and increase the cancer screening rates of eligible Ontarians.

The Screening Performance Consultant is responsible for the activities related to cancer screening performance management, reporting, project coordination and consultation for regional stakeholders to support performance and data inquiries. The Screening Performance Consultant also works closely with the cancer screening and assessment sites, and healthcare providers to ensure the performance and quality components of the programs are implemented and maintained.

Summary Of Duties

  • Monitors and manages screening performance data of OBSP, OLSP, OCSP and CCC sites, and healthcare providers
  • Provide project management and coordination support to stakeholders for activities related to the four cancer screening programs: OBSP, OCSP, OLSP, CCC
  • Analyze, interpret, reconcile, and report on cancer screening performance data, while consulting with stakeholders to communicate insights and drive informed decision-making.
  • Performs data quality analysis and supports development of improvement plans for cancer screening initiatives
  • Act as the key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders to facilitate understanding of key data elements, performance indicators, metrics, dashboards and other available data sources related to cancer screening
  • Develops relationships with stakeholders to ensure improvement plan deliverables are effectively coordinated and issues are resolved
  • Develop and deliver customized reports tailored to the specific needs of cancer screening program business needs and internal and external stakeholders, ensuring data accuracy and relevance for decision-making and performance tracking.
  • Uses regional and provincial data for analysis and planning of cancer screening initiatives
  • Lead the implementation of quality improvement action plans, coordinate quality improvement activities, and promote active participation of stakeholders for projects success
  • Maintains regional stakeholder databases
  • Analyses, evaluates and reports on recommendations for regional public and provider education initiatives
  • Participates in Cancer Care Ontario initiatives as required
  • Prepare presentations and present initiatives implemented by the Toronto Central Regional Cancer Program at OH-CCO meetings and committees (Primary Care Leads, Communication Leads, Executive Team, etc.)

Qualifications/Skills

  • Undergraduate Degree in Health Sciences or related field required
  • Minimum of 2 years of related data management experience aimed at quality improvement initiatives in a health care setting required
  • Previous experience in program evaluation and project management required
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse, interpret and evaluate information of varying degrees of complexity from various sources
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to consult and collaborate as needed with stakeholders and colleagues
  • Effective communication (written and oral) skills including good presentation, group facilitation and training skills
  • Ability to work independently, carry out multiple tasks and meet established deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to summarize complex data and design concise and impactful presentations for a variety of audiences
  • Proficiency using software applications including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), IBM and the ability to access the Internet as a resource
  • Knowledge of organized cancer screening programs preferred
  • Working knowledge of the Toronto Region and the relevant stakeholders
  • Certificate and training in project management and/or quality improvement as asset
