Job summary

NSB Omega is seeking a SCM Operations Category Management Advisor for our major Oil & Gas client in Calgary, AB. The role reports to the Manager/Senior Manager and focuses on managing category portfolios, developing strategies, and overseeing post‑award performance within Cenovus requirements.

Qualifications

• Legally entitled to work in Canada.
• Minimum 5 years of procurement or contract management experience.
• Minimum 2 years of category management experience.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Experience with data analytics and visualization tools.

Responsibilities

• Manage categories and scope throughout the lifecycle, including cost shaping and supplier analysis.
• Develop category strategies with stakeholders and execute approved sourcing actions.
• Lead RFx development, bid evaluations, negotiations, and post‑award management.
• Maintain contract documentation in approved management systems.
• Collaborate with Legal, HSE, QA/QC, and other SMEs as needed.
• Support SCM Value Methodology and evaluate supplier performance.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

NSB Omega is searching for a SCM Operations Category Management Advisor for our MAJOR Oil & Gas Client in Calgary, AB.Assignment Description

Overall Job Summary

Reporting to the Manager/Senior Manager, SCM Operations Category Management, the Contract SCM Analyst is responsible for managing assigned category portfolios and related work throughout the full contract lifecycle. Responsibilities may include developing category strategies in consultation with stakeholders, executing approved strategies, and managing post-award contract performance. The role also includes day-to-day contract administration and maintenance in accordance with Cenovus requirements.

The successful candidate will support the broader Operations Category Management team with contract administration activities, including:

• RFx creation and execution
• Contract development and system setup
• Data analysis and reporting
• Ariba and SAP system support
• Performance reporting

This position supports Category Management initiatives for both Upstream and Downstream operations across North America.

This role receives informal leadership and guidance from Category Managers, Specialists, and Senior Advisors while supporting the Operations Category Management team.

Core Activities

Manage assigned categories and work scopes throughout the entire lifecycle, including:

• Cost modeling
• Pricing analysis
• Supplier analysis
• Scope assessment

Execute sourcing initiatives in accordance with the annual sourcing plan and Cenovus procurement processes.

Manage category strategies, including:

• RFx development and execution
• Bid evaluations
• Negotiations
• Contract awards
• Post-award management

Perform post-award contract management activities, including:

• Contract amendments and changes
• Claims management

Ensure all contract documentation is accurately maintained within approved Contract Management Systems.

Collaborate with business stakeholders and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), including:

• Legal
• Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
• Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC)

Support SCM Business Value Methodology and strategic objectives.

Assist the business in evaluating supplier performance.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Legally entitled to work in Canada
• Undergraduate degree in a technical or business discipline, or equivalent related experience
• Minimum 5 years of procurement or contract management experience
• Minimum 2 years of category management experience
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel
• Strong understanding of the sourcing and contracting lifecycle
• Foundational knowledge of:
• Procure-to-Pay (P2P) processes
• Master Data objects
• Master Data Governance
• Strong financial and business acumen
