We are currently recruiting for a Scientist, Radiochemist for our production facility in Kanata, Ontario.

Location : On-site; 447 March Road, Kanata, ON.

Position Summary : Performs and is responsible for varied scientific or applied scientific functions in the design, development, testing, and commissioning of project outputs, commonly identified as active pharmaceutical ingredients of radioisotopes. Has responsibility for the technical performance of development projects or developed processes. Performs review and approval of process changes as Technical Design Authority, in accordance with company Quality procedures.

Responsibilities :

  • Reports to the Manager or Director of Research and Development. Has accountability for project activities within budgetary constraints and reporting guidelines.
  • Makes independent decisions and initiates actions within project parameters and guidelines; expected to make recommendations for problem-solving affecting project objectives. Actions are defined by established practice and procedure.
  • May represent the Company on committees, boards, panels, study groups, and / or commissions - national and international.
  • Identifies, plans, and carries out research, design, and development related to assigned projects.
  • Prepares estimates for work, including costs.
  • Supervises assigned staff on projects.
  • Coordinates tasks internally and externally to achieve project goals.
  • Provides technical assistance and guidance, including impact assessment of changes to validated products and technical justifications for quality dispositions.
  • May perform hands-on technical tasks for new projects to aid process proceduralization.
  • May serve as Technical Design Authority in the field of expertise, to authorize changes and approve procedures, reports, and specifications.

Qualifications & Additional Requirements :

  • Bachelor's degree in Science or Engineering, with at least 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Proficient knowledge in radiochemistry, physics, chemistry, biochemistry, or metallurgy, with appreciation of peripheral principles.
  • Proven high-quality research record in the scientific specialty.
  • Leadership and motivation skills in project activities.
  • Knowledge of company policies and procedures.
  • Understanding of team dynamics and inter-team impact.
  • Ability to solve complex problems, with solutions possibly modifying existing concepts, complying with regulations.
  • Experience in radiochemical separations, especially for actinium, radium, thorium, and uranium, is highly valued.
  • Work in the growing nuclear medicine industry with skilled colleagues.
