Data-driven decision-making is essential to game development at EA. We're looking for a thoughtful and disciplined Lead Data Scientist with deep statistical modeling experience, strong data engineering skills, and a passion for games and digital technologies. The most important trait we seek is a love for discovery.

You will report to a Director of Data Science within EA's central Data and Analytics (DnA) organization. You will collaborate with top data science talent to build live services features like recommendations for EA’s newest Battlefield franchise game, providing a unique opportunity to impact a game played by millions. You’re passionate about turning insights into actionable strategies and accelerating learning through data-driven testing.

You will bring expertise in AI, ML, and engineering to establish best practices for EA’s recommendations and personalization, surfacing interesting items to each player.

What You’ll Do

  • Work with the Battlefield team to understand their offerings and create data science products to solve their use cases.
  • Partner with our Recommendations and Personalization team to generalize algorithms across titles.
  • Coach and mentor Data Scientists and Senior Data Scientists, ensuring best practices and effective stakeholder communication.
  • Ensure sound methodology and experimental design, guiding projects from start to finish.
  • Communicate data science projects and products effectively to stakeholders, including non-technical audiences.
  • Design and improve data pipelines that process petabytes of data using tools like S3, Kubernetes, Sagemaker, GCP, Python, Kafka, and Hive.
  • Utilize data manipulation, processing, and visualization to support modeling efforts.
  • Assist the Battlefield game team and data teams in making strategic decisions.

You Have

  • 6+ years of experience manipulating data sets, building and deploying models, and applying Data Science methodologies to real-world problems.
  • Ph.D. or Master’s in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related fields is encouraged.
  • Strong expertise in recommendation algorithms.
  • Experience analyzing complex, multi-dimensional data sets with various tools.
  • Excellent communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
  • Proficiency in Python, SQL, PyTorch / TensorFlow, Hive / Hadoop, AWS / GCP.
  • Experience mentoring junior Data Scientists.
  • Interest and knowledge in video games, business models, and development practices is a plus.
  • Interest in the Battlefield franchise is a plus.

The listed ranges reflect EA’s expectations at the time of posting for British Columbia, CAD $133,400 - $193,200.
