Join Our Team: Scientific Communicator/ Illustrator or Graphic Designer (Part-Time/Contract)

Designs that Cell (DTC) is looking for a talented Scientific Communicator to join our remote team on a part-time or contract basis.

Type: Part-time or contract (0–20 hrs/week depending on project availability)

Compensation: $20–$50/hr (based on experience)

Role Overview

You’ll work alongside senior members of the team to bring scientific concepts to life through clear, accurate, and engaging visuals.

Responsibilities include:

A) Visual Science Communication Projects

• Act as a consulting illustrator on client and internal projects
• Deliver visual materials on time and aligned with DTC’s standards
• Commit to projects from start to finish

B) Project Reporting & Collaboration

• Track and report hours worked on each project
• Participate in DTC activities (e.g., meetings, email communication) as required

What We’re Looking For

• Passion for DTC’s mission and values
• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field or equivalent experience
• Enrollment or completion of MSc/PhD is an asset
• Additional training in visual arts or science communication is an asset
• High proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
• Familiarity with InDesign is a plus
• Excellent writing skills; scientific publications are a bonus
• Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
