Job description

We are seeking a Scientific Business Analyst to partner closely with our scientists and technical teams to streamline workflows and drive improvements across R&D functions. This role involves deep engagement with end users to understand pain points, translate business needs into actionable technical requirements, and support the implementation of effective data-driven solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Document current scientific workflows and identify associated pain points ("as-is” state).
  2. Shadow scientists or conduct whiteboarding sessions to gather workflow insights and unmet needs.
  3. Translate scientific workflows into technical user stories and functional requirements.
  4. Collaborate with data architects and subject matter experts to propose targeted solutions.
  5. Support testing efforts to validate solutions and ensure efficiency gains.
  6. Document "to-be” workflows and demonstrate improvements over baseline processes.
  7. Recommend additional opportunities for process enhancements.
  8. Assist in developing templates and schemas aligned to user stories and acceptance criteria.
  9. Work closely with internal project teams and stakeholders to ensure alignment and delivery.

Frequency: Daily collaboration.

Deliverables: Workflow documentation, user stories, testing reports, improvement plans.

Acceptance Criteria: Must demonstrate measurable workflow enhancements and support scientist efficiency.

Qualifications:

  1. Strong background in business analysis, preferably within the life sciences or R&D space.
  2. Experience collaborating with scientific stakeholders and technical teams.
  3. Proven ability to document complex processes and write clear, actionable user stories.
  4. Familiarity with agile methodologies, data solutions, and technical solutioning.
