Work environment
The Quebec City Research and Development Centre (RDC), located in Quebec City, is part of a network of 20 research centres that make up Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada's national research network. It has two experimental farms located in Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures and Normandin.
The Normandin Experimental Farm focuses its research work in two areas : the agri-environment and field crops such as forage plants, cereals and oilseeds. More specifically, the Farm's staff works on the management of forage and cereal crops for Eastern Canada. He also continues to work on the management and conservation of soil-water-air resources. In addition, the Normandin Experimental Farm sees to the development of forage and grain production methods adapted to the context of northern agriculture.
Intent of the process
The intent of this process is to staff a position at the EG-05 group and level on an indeterminate basis at the Quebec City Research and Development Centre (RDC).
Please note that this position requires on-site presence in Québec (Québec).
A pool of partially or fully qualified candidates may be created to fill similar or identical full-time positions on a temporary or permanent basis.
In the event that an employee of the public service is qualified through this process, they may be considered for acting, deployment, assignment or secondment opportunities.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)
Education :
EDU.A diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization in agriculture, biology, microbiology, chemistry, biochemistry or another field related to the duties of the position OR an acceptable combination of education, training or experience.

Experience :
E1. Experience in the handling, safe storage and disposal of hazardous materials.
E2. Experience in conducting risk assessments in scientific research or laboratory setting.
E3. Experience in implementing emergency or spill control procedures.
E4. Experience in interpreting and presenting data, as well as participating in the drafting of reports.
E5. Experience in coordinating and executing research activities under laboratory or field conditions.

EA1. Experience in conducting and supervising investigations related to occupational health and safety.

Operational Requirements :
Ability to work overtime, as required.

Conditions of employment
Reliability Status security clearance
Possession of a valid, class 5 Quebec driver’s license, or other provincial / territorial equivalency.
With appropriate safety precautions in place, able and willing to work in laboratory, greenhouse and field conditions.
Under normal safety precautions, able and willing to work with hazardous materials.
Known allergies must be controlled through the use of personal protective equipment and / or medication and must not impinge upon the duties to be performed.
Ability and willingness to obtain and maintain throughout employment Respiratory Program Administrator certification.
Ability and willingness to serve as the local Biological Safety Officer.
Ability and willingness to obtain and maintain throughout employment Hazardous Spill Response certification.
Ability and willingness to obtain and maintain throughout employment Transportation of Dangerous Goods (air and ground) certification.
