South Shore Regional Centre for Education

The South Shore Regional Centre for Education (SSRCE) practices a culturally responsive pedagogy approach, providing an inclusive, diverse, equitable, safe, and healthy education that supports learning and success both personally and academically for the 59,000 residents of Lunenburg and Queens Counties. This area covers 5,250 square kilometres and includes 23 schools.

Description:

The High School Teacher will teach and support students within the SSRCE. The teacher will work within the Inclusive Education Policy framework, participating in individualized program planning with school staff and families to maximize learning experiences for students.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Valid Nova Scotia Teacher Certification
  • Bachelor of Education - Secondary
  • University education in Math/Science or a minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience in Math/Science within the last seven (7) years, with positive performance appraisals and/or references

Desired Qualifications and Experience:

  • Professional development in Math and Science
  • Experience teaching Math and Science, Grades 10-12
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to collaborate with school and inter-agency teams
  • Experience in culturally responsive pedagogy, developmental trauma, and supporting students with behaviors of concern
  • Willingness to engage in ongoing professional development
  • Ability to develop, implement, and monitor individualized programs and strategies
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and value diverse cultural and racial backgrounds
  • Experience in planning and delivering professional learning opportunities
