The candidate will be part of, and work closely with, a collaborative team of teachers. An understanding of the BC Curriculum, effective teaching and learning practices, and a commitment to professional development are essential. Knowledge and experience in middle school programs and philosophy is an asset.

The is a temporary position that will be effective September 2, 2025 to June 30, 2026.

The District School Psychologist is primarily responsible for conducting psycho-educational assessments and providing consultation services. The successful candidate will have extensive knowledge of current, effective assessment methods as well as best practice in academic intervention.

Scope Of Position

  • Conduct psycho-educational assessments for students from K-12
  • Provide consultation service to teachers and parents regarding students with a wide variety of issues including learning disabilities, behavioural challenges and cognitive impairments
  • Provide assistance in the 1701 process of identification of students in special education categories
  • Provide guidance to resource teachers regarding the use of Level B assessment tools
  • Conducting assessment for the purpose of adjudication for Provincial examinations
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of Masters’ Degree in School Psychology or equivalent
  • Eligible for membership in the Ministry of Education Teacher Regulation Branch
  • Eligible for membership in BC Association of School Psychologists
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently to complete psycho-educational assessments
  • Excellent knowledge of assessment methods for formally evaluating cognitive, academic, behavioral and emotional functioning for elementary, middle and secondary students
  • Ability to collaborate with district and school staff to plan intervention programs for students with a variety of learning needs
  • Knowledge of audit compliance criteria for special education categories

Compensation

  • Salary as per Teachers' Collective Agreement. Current salary range is $59,724.00 to $110,831.00 annually plus comprehensive benefits package.
