Job summary

School District 57 seeks a RELIEFSCHOOL MEAL PROGRAM WORKER for 29 hours per week to collaborate with staff and a nutritionist to plan menus based on Canada’s Food Guide and budget. You will prepare and serve meals and support the school meal program.

This role involves kitchen cleanup, ordering groceries, maintaining inventories, training student helpers, and ensuring food safety. You will work with students and the public while presenting a neat appearance.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
• Three months of hotel/restaurant/catering food preparation experience or equivalent.
• British Columbia Food Safe certification and a comprehensive understanding of health safety standards relative to food services sanitation.
• Knowledge of the SuperHost Program and front of the house operation would be an asset.
• Valid Class 5 British Columbia driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Plan menus with staff and nutritionist based on Canada's Food Guide and budget.
• Clean kitchen equipment and appliances as required.
• Restore kitchen equipment to cupboards, shelves and drawers.
• Shop for groceries required in the program.
• Prepare, cook and serve food as required.
• Maintain inventories of supplies and equipment for meal program.
• Unpack and store food stuffs and supplies.
• Occasionally train and supervise student helpers.
• Present a well groomed appearance.
• Perform other food service functions or emergent duties.
