Job summary

Arrow Lakes School District 10 is hiring a CUPE – Food Services Assistant to support school meal and snack programs. You will prepare and serve food, maintain food safety records, and assist with inventory and ordering in a school kitchen.

The role requires Grade 12, FoodSafe Level 1, and at least 6 months of recent commercial food prep experience. The position is part-time, with hours ranging from 2 hours per day to 25 hours per week, at $28.97 per hour.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or equivalent is required.
• Valid FOODSAFE Level 1 certification.
• Minimum 6 months of recent commercial food preparation experience.
• Strong communication and collaboration with staff, students and families.
• Basic computer skills (email and online ordering).
• Allergy awareness training is an asset.
• Physically capable of lifting up to 20 lbs and driving access.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve food while following FoodSafe and school toolkit guidelines.
• Collaborate with school staff to support diverse dietary needs.
• Maintain a clean kitchen area, equipment and supplies.
• Store and rotate food, manage inventory records.
• Operate standard kitchen equipment (blender, stove, oven, microwave, dishwasher).
• Assist with menu planning and ordering food supplies.
