Job summary

School District #73 (Kamloops/Thompson) seeks a School and Family Consultant to support teachers, parents and students with behavioral and emotional needs across the Kamloops area. The role is itinerant, primarily based at A.E Perry Elementary with travel to Rayleigh Elementary as needed, and requires collaboration with health professionals and agencies.

The 0.40 FTE term assignment (Tuesdays and Wednesdays) focuses on direct student support, staff consultation, and development of intervention

Qualifications

Masters degree in counseling psychology or equivalent.
Significant teaching experience in regular classrooms.
Experience with severe behaviour students.
Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, staff and outside agencies.
Valid BC Driver's License.
BC Teachers certificate.

Responsibilities

Provide counselling support in schools where needed.
Support suicide risk assessments and safety planning.
Assist in development of behavior plans for students with moderate to severe needs.
Collaborate with school teams to implement classroom behavior strategies.
Attend district meetings and case conferences as needed.
Maintain connections with community service providers.
