About the Role

As the School Director, you will be responsible for the daily management, oversight, and operations of planning and developing an age-appropriate program for Bloomsbury Academy. You will work closely with RECE and ECA staff to create and implement developmentally appropriate programs for children aged 18 months to 6 years. You will oversee the site, fostering a safe and inclusive environment that supports children's holistic development while adhering to Ministry of Education standards and organizational philosophy.

This is a full-time, on-site role requiring Monday through Friday work, with occasional weekends and evenings for events like open houses and school tours.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage daily operations of Bloomsbury Academy to ensure smooth functioning with students, parents, and staff.
  • Ensure compliance with the Ministry of Education and manage licensing inspections, including Toronto Public Health and Fire Safety.
  • Implement relevant curriculum standards and health/safety protocols.
  • Develop and enhance programs with an entrepreneurial and innovative focus.
  • Support teachers in designing and executing developmental programs for children.
  • Ensure policies and procedures are followed.
  • Monitor and manage materials, supplies, and equipment within budget.
  • Assist in hiring, onboarding, and performance management of staff.
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide coaching.
  • Collaborate with staff and serve as a liaison with the Director.
  • Create a safe, supportive environment sensitive to individual children's needs.
  • Maintain accurate records and assess children's progress.
  • Foster positive relationships with families.

Qualifications and Experiences:

  • Early Childhood Education Diploma or recognized equivalent.
  • At least 3 years of teaching experience and 2 years in leadership.
  • Registration with the College of Early Childhood Educators.
  • Experience overseeing educational operations, preferably in childcare.
  • Knowledge of Child Care and Early Years Act, How Does Learning Happen, and ELECT.
  • Strong teamwork, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Commitment to professional development and ethical standards.
