Job description

Pembina Hills School Division invites applications for the position of School Counselor or Success Coach located at Ecole Barrhead Elementary School. This full-time position begins on August 25, 2025, and is open to both certificated staff and support staff.

Pembina Hills School Division educates approximately

The School - Ecole Barrhead Elementary School

Kindergarten to Grade 6, with over 600 students, offering English and French Immersion programs. Our mission is to support students' personal and academic growth, fostering skills and attitudes for responsible citizenship.

Qualifications

• Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate with counseling experience and master's level training, OR
• Registered Social Worker with relevant counseling training and experience.

Requirements

• Knowledge of Trauma-Sensitive Practices (Bruce Perry)
• Experience with solution-focused brief counseling or similar modalities suitable for children
• Understanding of mental health assessments and prevention strategies for triage and risk consideration
• Ability to work collaboratively and independently
• Strong communication skills, confidentiality awareness, and ability to refer to external agencies
• Commitment to learner-centered philosophy and close contact with students, parents, and stakeholders
• Experience with group interventions or classroom presentations is an asset
