Role Overview

The school counsellor will provide one-on-one and small group counselling for students and will develop programming to educate students on overall well-being.

Specific duties
  • Perform short-term counselling and crisis intervention for students as needed.
  • Develop and deliver programming to educate students on well-being issues.
  • Consult with teachers to explore strategies and solutions supporting students.
  • Maintain confidential records of student interactions.
  • Guide teachers in identifying students requiring additional support and intervention.
  • Identify student concerns and develop strategies to improve interactions.
  • Implement restorative justice procedures following discipline incidents.
  • Meet regularly with the counselling team and school-based support teams.
  • Act as part of a coordinated support team to meet individual and group or grade-level needs.
  • Facilitate communication with parents through the support team to provide consistent advice for supporting their children.
Qualifications
  • Masters in Counselling or equivalent.
  • Registered Counsellor (RCC or CCC).
  • Teaching experience; certified teachers are an asset.
  • Courses in Christian counselling or perspectives are an asset.
Salary Range

$56,016 - $100,902 (dependent on education, qualifications, and experience; pro-rated for part-time employees).
