Job summary

Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board is seeking a part-time Social Worker (0.5 FTE) on a temporary basis to join the Student Services team in Hamilton, Ontario. The role focuses on providing support services to students, families, and staff with assessment, crisis intervention, and advocacy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work required.
• MSW preferred.
• Valid Ontario driver’s license.
• Excellent interpersonal, oral, written and computer skills.
• Proven assessment and intervention skills.
• Experience in school-based social work from an evidence-informed practice perspective.
• Ability to work in a team setting.
• Maturity in handling confidential information.
• Membership in good standing with The Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers.
• Previous work in an education setting is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Provide support services to students, families and Board personnel through consultation/assessment.
• Crisis intervention and counselling as needed.
• Attendance investigations and community liaison/networking.
• Prevention programming and professional development.
• Child/family advocacy within the school community.
