K̓wsaltktnéws ne Secwepemcúl’ecw School District No. 83 is seeking a School Based Counsellor for a 0.600 FTE continuing assignment effective immediately.

The counsellor collaborates with students, educators, parents, and community partners to promote mental health and wellbeing within the school setting. The ideal candidate holds a Master's degree in counselling and a BC teaching certificate with TRB membership, plus experience in trauma-informed, Indigenous‑focused approaches and interagency

Qualifications

• Master's degree in counselling psychology or related discipline with a counselling focus.
• Valid BC Teaching certificate and current TRB membership.
• Membership in a counselling or related professional association preferred.
• Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training or willingness to train.
• Experience collaborating with school teams and community agencies.

Responsibilities

• Provide counselling and planning with students, the School Based Team, and families.
• Coordinate with teachers and community partners to promote mental health.
• Plan and implement prevention, developmental, remedial, and intervention services.
• Respond to critical incidents and ensure student safety.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards.
