Position & location: Part-time, Early Childhood Assistant - Innisfil YMCA Before & After School Programs

The opportunity: To build healthy, strong, connected communities through nurturing environments for children.

In this role, you will:

  • Provide personal care to children, including toileting/diaper changing, first aid, medication administration, and monitoring dietary, allergies & medical conditions
  • Actively engage with children, ensuring supervision and safety in groups of up to 15 children
  • Plan and implement play-based learning following YMCA Curriculum
  • Maintain positive, professional communication with families, staff, and volunteers
  • Create an inclusive environment supporting children with exceptional behaviors and additional needs
  • Demonstrate behaviors aligned with our Mission, Vision, and Values
  • Adhere to work schedules, maintain ratios, and notify supervisors of scheduling changes
  • Show flexibility with routines and schedules
  • Perform other duties as assigned

For this role, you bring:

  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR (Level C) certification or obtain within 90 days of employment
  • Up-to-date immunizations or equivalent as per public health and Child Care Early Years Act
  • Availability: Monday to Friday, approximately 25 hours/week split shifts (6:30-9:00am & 3:00-6:00pm)
  • Passion for working with children and providing quality play-based learning
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 20 kg (44 lbs.), and participate in physical activities
  • Ability to work outdoors for at least 2 hours daily in all weather conditions
