A community-focused non-profit organization in Langford, BC, is looking for a passionate individual to join their child care team as a School Age Child Care Staff member. This part-time role involves facilitating engaging activities for children ages 5-12, planning and implementing child-centered programs, and maintaining a clean, inclusive environment. The ideal candidate must possess a positive attitude and experience with children. Competitive hourly wage of $21.54 plus benefits is offered, with opportunities for additional hours available.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 19 years of age.
  • Experience working with children ages 5 to 12.
  • Relevant training in Child Development, Child Guidance, and/or Nutrition is an asset.

Position Details
  • Vacancies: 1
  • Type: Permanent Part Time (20+ hours per week)
  • Placement: December 28, 2025
  • Hours: 27.5 hours, Monday to Friday.
  • Shift times: 7am-9am, 2pm-5:30pm
  • Additional hours available on non-instructional days between 7am-5:30pm, including over summer 2026!
  • Wage: $21.54/hour plus benefits

Your responsibilities:
  • Work effectively with children, staff, and other stakeholders to provide an inclusive, healthy, and engaging environment.
  • Assist with the planning and implementation of a child-centered program in accordance with YMCA-YWCA and CCFL standards, including YMCA A Place to Connect curriculum standards.
  • Help children navigate conflict and role model positive behaviours.
  • Read, understand and follow all YMCA-YWCA policies and procedures related to the supervision, guidance and care of children.
  • Establish and maintain positive daily communication and interaction with families, providing quality customer service and building meaningful relationships within the community.
  • Maintain a neat, orderly, and clean environment, including all activity areas and washrooms.
Your qualifications
  • Must be at least 19 years of age
  • Experience working with children 5–12
  • Responsible Adult or 20 hours of training in Child Development, Child Guidance and/or Nutrition an asset
  • Early Childhood Education Assistant License to Practice an asset
If offered a position:
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR C required
  • A clear Ministry of Justice Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening required
  • A clear Police/RCMP Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening required
