Position Details

Position: Full-Time Security Guard

Site: Scarborough Birchmount Hospital | 3030 Birchmount Road, Scarborough

Averaging Agreement: Overtime is under the Averaging Agreement (AA) after 88 hours

Hours: Continental Nights (1900 - 0700)

Pay rate: $18.36

Application Deadlines: Internal - May 9, 2025; External - May 16, 2025

Key Responsibilities

• Patrol hospital grounds, parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits to ensure safety.
• Monitor surveillance systems and report suspicious activity immediately.
• Control access points, allowing only authorized individuals.
• Respond quickly to emergencies, assisting staff during crises and evacuations.
• Greet and assist visitors, patients, and staff; provide directions and enforce policies.
• De-escalate tense situations and resolve conflicts professionally.
• Document incidents accurately through report writing.
• Collaborate with hospital staff and law enforcement for coordinated security efforts.
• Enforce hospital policies and address violations appropriately.

Prerequisites

• Valid Security License for Ontario
• First Aid & CPR - Level C
• Covid-19 vaccination (two doses)
• Immunization records for MMR, Varicella, TB skin test
• Ability to shave for N-95 mask fitting
• Fluency in English (oral and written)
• Experience in security or law enforcement preferred
• Certifications in Use of Force and Management of Aggressive Behavior preferred (training available)
• Legal authorization to work in Canada
