About the Job

Today, we have an opportunity for you to join us as a Scalehouse Clerk at our Waste & Recycling Drop-off Depot in Niagara Falls, ON. As our new Scalehouse Clerk, you will inspect and weigh all incoming loads to the site to ensure that waste is acceptable and complies with Environmental Compliance Approval regulations.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Inspect drivers, weigh, and document each load entering the site to ensure compliance with Environmental Regulations and acceptance into the landfill.
  • Enter details of each load into a computerized waste information database to store all load information and produce reports.
  • Respond to customer inquiries and concerns, providing information when needed.
  • Verify clearance information for specific non-hazardous loads as per regulatory directions to ensure waste acceptance.
  • Receive payments, complete documentation, and ensure records and cash receipts are balanced; prepare bank deposits.
  • Produce and submit reports such as Tonnage, Sales Data, and Cash Sales Reports to relevant departments.
  • Open or close the Scalehouse, ensuring systems like computers and security are operational.
  • Communicate daily with operators and the Site Supervisor.
  • Handle debit and credit transactions for payments and record keeping.
  • Support operations with various job skills and duties as needed.
What You Need
  • At least one year of experience in a customer service role.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in various settings.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Strong customer service skills, including courtesy, tact, and diplomacy.
  • Basic record-keeping skills for accurate cash receipt documentation.
  • Valid G driver's license.
