Job summary

Northwest Scaffolding on Vancouver Island seeks an experienced Scaffold Estimator to prepare accurate, competitive estimates for commercial, industrial, institutional, and residential projects. You will review drawings, determine material and labor needs, and work with clients, PMs, and field teams to ensure estimates are achievable.

  • 2+ years experience in scaffolding, construction estimating, or related trades.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings/specifications.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other estimating software.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Review architectural, structural, engineering drawings, specifications, and project documents.
  • Perform detailed takeoffs for scaffolding systems, including materials, labour, equipment, transportation, and installation requirements.
  • Prepare accurate cost estimates, quotations, and proposals.
  • Determine appropriate scaffold types, configurations, quantities, and access requirements.
  • Identify project-specific risks, site constraints, and potential additional costs.
  • Maintain current pricing for materials, labour, equipment, transportation, and related services.
  • Communicate with clients, general contractors, suppliers, and internal teams to clarify project requirements.
  • Conduct site visits when required to assess access, elevations, ground conditions, and other estimating considerations.
  • Review changes and addenda and update estimates accordingly.
  • Support the project handoff from estimating to operations.
  • Maintain organized records of estimates, takeoffs, quotes, and supporting documentation.
  • Participate in bid reviews and assist with developing competitive bidding strategies.
  • Ensure estimates comply with safety requirements, project specifications, and company standards.

Position Summary

Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience in scaffolding, construction estimating, or a related construction trade preferred.
  • Strong understanding of scaffold systems, components, installation methods, and construction practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other estimating or construction software.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with project and field teams.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as required.
  • Familiarity with local scaffold regulations, and workplace safety requirements.
