Job summary

Element Consulting Engineers Ltd. in Burnaby, BC, is seeking a motivated Temporary Structures / Scaffold Designer to join our team full-time in-office.

You will design scaffolding and temporary works, prepare drawings and calculations, collaborate with engineers, contractors, and project teams, and ensure compliance with CSA, NBC and WorkSafeBC standards. Experience with AutoCAD and structural detailing is preferred, and you’ll contribute to practical engineering solutions for diverse

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in Civil/Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related field.
• Experience with scaffolding, temporary works, structural steel, or construction-related design is an asset.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD; experience with structural analysis software is an asset.
• Strong understanding of structural principles and load paths.
• Ability to read and interpret structural and architectural drawings.
• Good communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and detail scaffolding and temporary structures for construction projects.
• Prepare structural calculations, drawings, and design details.
• Work with engineers, contractors, fabricators, and project teams to develop practical solutions.
• Review existing scaffold/temporary structures and assess loading conditions.
• Prepare and revise CAD drawings and design documentation.
• Support project coordination and respond to technical inquiries.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable CSA, NBC, WorkSafeBC, and other relevant standards.
