Macdonald, Dettwiler And Associates Corporation in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, QC, seeks a Satellite Flight Software System Engineer to lead embedded software for current and next‑gen satellite programs. You will own FSW architecture, drive trade studies and provide technical authority across the spacecraft life cycle.

You will translate mission requirements into software, define ICDs, work with cyber‑security, and mentor engineers while supporting verification, tests and on‑orbit updates.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of fault‑tolerant systems experience on LEO/MEO/GEO missions.
• Experience with CCSDS, ECSS, PUS services.
• Experience with MIL-1553, SpaceWire, RS422/485, CAN, Ethernet.
• Real-time cores and/or embedded Linux, auto‑coding.
• Strong aerospace system engineering fundamentals.
• Ability to integrate and resolve issues with minimal supervision.
• Clear written and oral English; French is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Gather and translate mission requirements into software modules and threads.
• Define FSW architecture (RTOS, initialization, services, HK, fault management).
• Develop FDIR algorithms, isolation and safe‑mode sequencing.
• Produce Interface Control Documents (ICDs) for payload and subsystems.
• Coordinate with cyber‑security for security by design.
• Mentor junior engineers and support verification planning and testing.
