Job description

SaskCulture Board of Directors

Location: 404 - 2125 11th Avenue, Regina, SK, S4P 3X3 [map]

The “owners” of SaskCulture are defined as the people of Saskatchewan. The Board is accountable to its owners as a whole and acts on their behalf, rather than advocating for specific geographic areas or interest groups. The Board’s role is to represent ownership in ensuring appropriate organizational performance, focusing on outward vision, community input, diversity of viewpoints, strategic leadership, and clear governance roles.

General Criteria for Board Members
  • Commitment to engaging with the ownership's diversity
  • Dedication to cultural literacy development
  • Ability to focus on long-term vision over daily operations
  • Interest and capability to discuss organizational values
  • Willingness to delegate implementation of values
  • Active participation in deliberations, respecting others’ opinions
  • Commitment to honor Board decisions
  • Ability to evaluate based on established criteria
  • Focus on what is right in analysis and evaluation
  • Willingness to serve as part of the Creative Kids Canada (CKC) charity
Orientation and Qualifications

New Directors will receive comprehensive orientation on cultural issues, organizational structure, and governance processes. Candidates will be provided with clear information about the Board’s role, qualifications, and expectations.

Certification or Education Requirements

All directors must:

  • Be residents of Saskatchewan
  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Be of sound mind
  • Not be bankrupt

Additionally, candidates should demonstrate interest, experience, and knowledge in at least one of the following areas:

  • Arts
  • First Nations
  • Metis Nations
  • Multiculturalism
  • Heritage
  • Cultural Industries
  • Member at Large
