Job Title: SAP S/4HANA HR & Payroll Lead

Overview:
An established Canadian enterprise is seeking a SAP S/4HANA HR & Payroll Lead to support stabilization and process optimization efforts following a major ERP upgrade. This individual will serve as the functional expert for HR, Payroll, and Time modules within S/4HANA and help shape long-term system strategy. This opportunity is based in Calgary and offers a hybrid work model. Reporting into the ERP leadership team, the HR & Payroll Lead will manage post-implementation optimization of core SAP HCM modules within an S/4HANA on RISE landscape. The role involves cross-functional collaboration with third-party vendors and internal stakeholders, and plays a key part in HR transformation initiatives across both Canadian and U.S. operations.

What you will be doing:

Strategic Contributions

  • Lead post-upgrade initiatives to stabilize and enhance HR and Payroll functionality across the S/4HANA suite

  • Collaborate with external integrators and internal business partners to execute a multi-year roadmap for HRIS modernization

  • Drive improvements in time tracking, compensation, benefits, and compliance processes

Operational & Technical Excellence

  • Configure and customize modules including PA, OM, Time, and Payroll

  • Support integrations between S/4HANA and SuccessFactors, including testing and validation

  • Design automation, data validation tools, and audit frameworks to ensure payroll accuracy

  • Assist with quarterly patch cycles and ongoing environment health checks

  • Manage resolution of advanced payroll or compliance issues (Level 3 support)

What you must have:

  • 8+ years of SAP HCM experience, with at least 3 years working specifically within S/4HANA environments

  • Demonstrated track record of driving post-upgrade improvements and stabilization

  • Proficiency in Canadian and U.S. payroll and benefits processes

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, IT, or a related field

  • SAP HCM certification is required; S/4HANA HR certification is an asset

Nice to have:

  • Familiarity with SAP BTP, API-based integrations, and SuccessFactors

  • Prior experience working with Workday

  • Knowledge of compliance frameworks in both Canadian and American HR contexts
