TransAlta seeks a Senior SAP S/4HANA Finance Lead Analyst in Calgary to drive post-upgrade optimization and finance transformation on the newly upgraded S/4HANA platform. This hybrid role sits at our Downtown Calgary Head Office, collaborating with outsourced teams and internal stakeholders to shape the finance tech roadmap.

The ideal candidate brings 8+ years in SAP Finance, with 3+ years in S/4HANA FICO, and a track record of complex finance project delivery and real-time analytics deployment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Information Technology, or related field.
• 8+ years total SAP Finance experience with minimum 3+ years hands-on S/4HANA FICO
• CRITICAL: Proven experience with S/4HANA post-upgrade optimization and finance transformation in newly upgraded environments
• SAP S/4HANA Finance certification (preferred)
• CPA or equivalent finance certification (preferred)
• Experience with SAP BPC or SAP Analytics Cloud for planning and consolidation (preferred)
• Knowledge of RPA tools for finance process automation (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Lead post-upgrade optimization for S/4HANA Finance modules (FI/CO, PS, TRM, Cash).
• Coordinate complex finance projects with outsourced development teams and internal stakeholders.
• Develop a 3-year finance technology roadmap leveraging upgrade capabilities.
• Lead business process reengineering initiatives using S/4HANA finance features.
• Implement month-end close optimization and automation opportunities.
• Design and deploy real-time financial reporting and analytics solutions.
• Provide Level 3 support and escalation for complex finance issues.
• Serve as SME for S/4HANA Finance configurations and customizations.
• Oversee integration between S/4HANA and external financial systems.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior SAP S/4HANA Finance Lead Analyst to drive financial process optimization and system enhancement initiatives for our freshly upgraded S/4HANA on RISE environment. This position is based out of our Downtown Calgary Head Office, with the flexibility of a hybrid work schedule.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

Strategic Leadership

• Lead post-upgrade optimization and continuous improvement for S/4HANA Finance modules (FI/CO, PS, TRM, Cash, OpenText VIM) in our freshly upgraded environment
• Coordinate complex finance projects with outsourced development teams and internal stakeholders for customizations and integrations
• Develop comprehensive 3-year finance technology roadmap leveraging new S/4HANA upgrade capabilities

Operational Excellence

• Lead business process reengineering initiatives leveraging S/4HANA finance capabilities
• Implement month‑end close optimization and automation opportunities
• Design and deploy real‑time financial reporting and analytics solutions
• Provide Level 3 support and escalation resolution for complex finance issues

Technical Leadership

• Serve as subject matter expert for S/4HANA Finance module configurations and customizations
• Oversee integration between S/4HANA and external financial systems (planning, consolidation, etc.)
• Lead testing and validation for system updates and finance-related enhancements
• Design and implement automated controls and audit trails for financial processes

ABOUT YOU

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Information Technology, or related field
• 8+ years total SAP Finance experience with minimum 3+ years hands‑on S/4HANA FICO
• CRITICAL: Proven experience with S/4HANA post‑upgrade optimization and finance transformation in newly upgraded environments

Preferred Qualifications

• SAP S/4HANA Finance certification
• CPA, or equivalent finance certification
• Experience with SAP BPC or SAP Analytics Cloud for planning and consolidation
