Sanitation Technician (18-Month Maternity Leave Contract)

At PURPLEFARM, we believe that cleanliness is the foundation of quality. Our sanitation team plays a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of our growing, harvesting, and processing operations. As we continue to uphold the highest standards of health and safety, we are seeking a Sanitation Technician to join our Fredericton team on an 18-month maternity leave contract.

The Role

As a Sanitation Technician, you’ll ensure the facility is clean, organized, and compliant with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Production Practices (GPP), and Health Canada regulations. You’ll support multiple departments including cultivation, post-harvest, and administration, and will report directly to the Sanitation Manager or designated supervisor.

Key Responsibilities
General Sanitation
  • Follow all SOPs and contribute suggestions for continuous improvement
  • Coordinate room turnovers and cleaning schedules with departmental managers
  • Record cleaning activities in electronic systems and ensure documentation accuracy
Production Area Cleaning
  • Sanitize grow rooms and post-harvest spaces before, during, and after production
  • Perform general facility cleaning: floors, surfaces, garbage, door handles, etc.
  • Organize clean/dirty materials and operate equipment including pressure washers, foggers, and industrial dishwashers
  • Support waste destruction protocols for cannabis material
  • Coordinate ATP swab checks with the Quality Assurance team
  • Maintain cleanliness of common areas: lunchroom, bathrooms, locker rooms, offices, etc.
  • Handle washing and drying of production uniforms
Facility Grounds
  • Keep exterior grounds free from litter inside and outside the fenced areas
Additional Support
  • Provide assistance to production teams (e.g., trimming, packaging, plant maintenance) as needed
  • Take on other duties as assigned by your supervisor
What You Bring
  • Previous experience in sanitation, janitorial, or custodial roles is an asset
  • Background in manufacturing or cannabis facilities is a strong asset
  • Excellent time management and communication skills
  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively
  • Physically able to lift up to 25 kg and work in standing or sitting positions for extended periods
  • Comfortable working in a structured environment with strict cleanliness protocols
  • Open to working overtime during peak production periods
  • Type: Full-time, 18-month maternity leave contract
  • Schedule: Day shift; overtime required during peak periods
