As a Sanitation Team Leader, you will oversee a dynamic sanitation team responsible for cleaning the bakery manufacturing plant using CFIA-approved chemicals and following regulatory guidelines. This position requires you to work the night shift for 10 hours over four days a week, providing a great opportunity for career growth and development.

Here's Who You Are

  • Previous experience leading a sanitation team in a food manufacturing setting; bakery experience is preferred.
  • Sanitation experience is a must.
  • Comfortable working with sanitation chemicals and cleaning agents (WHMIS experience).
  • Detail-oriented, able to work collaboratively with a diverse team.
  • Proficient in English, both verbal and written.
  • Knowledgeable about GMPs, SSOPs, OHS, and other quality and safety programs relevant to food processing environments (e.g., HACCP).
  • Flexible with work hours, including some weekends.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Hands-on cleaning, leadership duties, and process improvement throughout the facility.
  • Prioritize and analyze issues, assist in decision-making regarding sanitation and employee conduct.
  • Train fellow associates in relief positions.
  • Identify problems proactively and suggest solutions.
  • Recognize and report equipment tampering.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas; remove waste at shift end; ensure equipment care.
  • Follow safety protocols and participate in safety training; report injuries or unsafe conditions.
  • Support quality management, food safety, employee safety, and maintenance programs.
  • Ensure sanitation tasks are performed safely, efficiently, and accurately.
  • Monitor chemical preparation and use.
  • Clean equipment used in production, conduct visual inspections.
  • Respond promptly to sanitation needs, work safely and responsibly.
  • Follow sanitation procedures and work instructions.
  • Conduct inspections and record findings.
  • Train employees on SSOPs and assist in designing these procedures.
  • Enforce GMP, SSOP, FIFO, HACCP compliance; take corrective actions as needed.
  • Participate in safety training; report injuries immediately.
  • Foster positive employee relations and respectful interactions.
  • Ensure proper material and chemical rotation; maintain lot tracking.
  • Report equipment issues or hazards to supervisor.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Physical Demands

Must fulfill essential physical functions:

  • Manual dexterity: use of hands and fingers.
  • Bending and stooping frequently.
  • Lifting up to 25 kg regularly, more with assistance.
  • Handle equipment, operate pallet jacks, climb ladders, use tools.
  • Frequent neck and head movements.

Work Conditions

Exposure to noisy, dusty, refrigerated, and hot environments.
