Location: Edmonton, Alberta

Position: Permanent / Full Time

Positions Available: Weekend Shift - 1 (Training on Days)

Job Purpose

The Sandblaster is responsible for sandblasting steel using a hose of descaling equipment.

Responsibilities:

• Demonstrates a commitment to Waiward’s incident-free vision, values, and culture.
• Prepares surfaces for painting using air-powered sandblasting equipment.
• Protects unpainted surfaces with paper and masking tape as needed.
• Maintains and repairs sandblasting equipment regularly.
• Loads the shop with sandblasting materials.
• Assists painters with cutting in, striping, blowing down blasted steel, and tracking piece numbers on reports.
• Tracks pieces from the load list as they are completed.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Recognized trade ticket or apprenticeship credentials.
• Problem-solving skills.
• Ability to organize work effectively.

Working Conditions

The incumbent works outdoors, facing moderate noise, extreme temperatures, and hazards such as equipment and toxic fumes.

Physical Requirements

Requires close visual acuity for extended reading and viewing assembly specifications. Must be able to stand and sit for long periods and possess good physical attributes for painting in various positions.
