JOB SUMMARY

Clark Testing is seeking a Sample Prep Technician for our Dupo, Illinois-based coal & coke testing facility. This position involves manual labor, where the Sample Prep Technician collects samples from client sites and ensures all applicable procedures are completed and recorded upon return to the testing facility.

This is a part-time, non-exempt, hourly position. Full-time employment may be offered after a successful 90-day introductory review period, with eligibility for benefits such as medical, dental, vision, life insurance, employee assistance program (EAP), 401(k) plan with employer match, and paid time off and holidays.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Pick up and collect 500-pound samples from client sites 3 - 5 times per day.
  2. Prepare all daily incoming samples according to specifications.
  3. Log all test data into the database or spreadsheet.
  4. Make and record experimental observations.
  5. Generate documentation for all tests performed.
  6. Communicate analytical information to customers promptly and accurately.
  7. Follow all SOPs and assist in reviewing laboratory procedures.
  8. Work independently and as part of a team.
  9. Assist co-workers in other lab areas as needed and as directed by management.
  10. Perform other duties as required by management.
  11. Participate in team activities related to safety, housekeeping, quality improvement, and training.

QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or GED required; an Associate Degree in a physical science is a plus.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude is preferred.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Commitment to producing quality work safely.
  • Willingness to follow safe laboratory practices and wear PPE and uniform.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and transport objects weighing up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Availability to work nights, weekends, shifts, and holidays as needed.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean record and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to pass drug screening and background checks.
