What is a Salesperson?

An entry-level sales position supporting the DIY business, aimed at achieving sales and service objectives. Requires good knowledge of store systems, basic automotive and parts knowledge, and the ability to source from various suppliers. Knowledge of store inventory and maintenance processes is essential. Position can be part-time or full-time. Fleet safety certification is preferred.

Primary Responsibilities

• Provide excellent service to DIY customers in-store and over the phone
• Meet personal sales goals and contribute to store sales targets
• Perform DIY services such as battery installation, testing, and wiper installs
• Maintain store product and operational standards
• Manage inventory processes including truck put-away, cycle counts, and back stock

Secondary Responsibilities

• Maintain store cleanliness and organization
• Assist with stock replenishment and back stock management
• Safely deliver parts to customers as needed

Success Factors

• Basic driving skills and navigation
• Proficiency with delivery systems
• Friendly communication skills
• Ability to locate and stock parts efficiently
• Knowledge of safety procedures
• Experience with inventory systems and store equipment
• Parts and automotive system knowledge
• Experience with POS and parts lookup systems
• Skill in testing and diagnosing DIY service equipment

Essential Job Skills

• Fluent in English; Spanish is a plus; effective communication and relationship-building skills
• Ability to interpret safety rules, manuals, and parts catalogs
• Basic math skills for various measurements and calculations
• Flexibility to work days, evenings, and weekends as needed

Prior Experience

• 2-3 years of successful sales experience in retail, providing excellent customer service

Physical Demands

The role involves walking, standing, talking, hearing, and manual tasks. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally. Visual and sensory abilities required include close and distance vision, color perception, and depth perception. Work environment includes indoor and outdoor settings with exposure to weather, mechanical parts, chemicals, and noise.
