Job description

Finance & Administration Temp Toronto, ON Hybrid $70,000 - $80,000 CAD per year

The Canadian Academy seeks a Salesforce Specialist (Fixed-Term Contract)

The Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television is the largest non-profit professional arts organization in Canada, with a membership of more than 4,000 emerging and established industry professionals. Founded in 1979, the Canadian Academy is dedicated to recognizing, celebrating, and advocating for Canadian talent in the film, television, and digital media sectors while remaining committed to nurturing all levels of talent through professional training, networking opportunities, and guidance.

In everything we do, we seek to foster a culture of work that is creative and entrepreneurial but also grounded in a respect for processes and professionalism that ensures the integrity of our membership organization. As a growing organization, we are looking for team members who will bring enthusiasm and a solutions-focused mindset to their role.

The Canadian Academy is seeking a Salesforce Specialist who will oversee and manage the continued development, maintenance, and optimization of the Academy’s Salesforce systems and portals, including award submissions, voting, and membership across both the National Office and Section Québec. This role will also serve as a key strategic partner in addressing ongoing system challenges and supporting internal teams through better system design, automation, and technical documentation.

The Salesforce Specialist will work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure continuity, efficiency, and alignment with organizational needs while maintaining a strong foundation for future growth.

Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Lead ongoing development and maintenance of Salesforce Experience Cloud portals related to Canadian Screen Awards, Prix Gémeaux, Membership, and general organizational workflows.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to project manage portal enhancements, identify UX improvements, and develop features that empower staff to manage tasks independently.
  • Optimize and maintain integrations with systems such as AWS, Heroku, Chargent, Mailchimp, and other third-party applications.
  • Develop and implement a fully functioning Membership Portal with digital membership card capabilities.
  • Lead, with Communications team support, on portal UI design, template formatting, and Salesforce/Mailchimp mass email communications.
  • Provide responsive troubleshooting support and remove reliance on intermediaries for developer communication.
  • Enhance Salesforce reporting tools for cross-departmental use and executive-level analysis.
  • Standardize invoicing and transaction processes across applications (Heroku, Chargent) for integrated data flow.
  • Ensure Canadian Screen Awards and Prix Gémeaux portals operate independently without regressions or overlap in objects and workflows.
  • Maintain strong QA protocols to reduce faulty rollouts and system bugs.
  • Design and implement an internal Salesforce User Guide and documentation hub, including platform specs, troubleshooting resources, and how-to instructions to reduce staff dependency on developer support.
  • Develop automated alert systems and dashboards to flag transaction anomalies such as double charges or failed renewals.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve failures in automated processes (e.g., membership auto-renewals, acceptance emails, complimentary transactions).
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders on migration needs and website integration.
  • Create a structured system to cleanly filter Canadian Screen Awards and Prix Gémeaux data across all fields and objects.

Qualifications:

  • Solid demonstrated experience developing in a Salesforce environment or a similar role with related experience in Salesforce and/or non-profit.
  • Proven experience working with Salesforce Experience Cloud, Salesforce Lightning, and complex system integrations.
  • Salesforce Architect certification (Technical Architect, Data Architect, or B2C Solution Architect) is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of Salesforce metadata, custom code, process flows, and third-party integration best practices.
  • Ability to project manage system enhancements with minimal oversight, high accountability and adherence to deadlines.
  • Experience troubleshooting front- and back-end development issues and deploying clean, user-friendly solutions.
  • Familiarity with data migration, financial system integration, and reporting dashboard development.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to support internal staff training and documentation.
  • Working knowledge of AWS, Heroku, Chargent, WordPress, and other third-party platforms is an asset.
  • Experience working in arts, culture, or nonprofit environments is an asset.
  • Bilingualism (EN/FR) is an asset.

CONTRACT DURATION:

  • July 7, 2025 - June 30, 2026, with an opportunity to extend up to one year.

APPLICATION DUE DATE:

SALARY:

  • $70,000-80,000 /year on a three-day workweek, paid biweekly.

Office hours are Mondays to Fridays, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. A commitment of 24 hours/per week is required. Evening work and overtime are required for special events throughout the year and during Canadian Screen Week and its lead-up. At this time, Canadian Academy staff members are working full-time remotely from home but are required to attend in-person meetings and events when needed.

The Canadian Academy thanks all applicants for their interest. Only those candidates selected for an interview will be contacted. The Canadian Academy is an equal opportunity employer and strongly encourages applications from applicants who identify as Black, Indigenous or a person of colour.
