Achieve and try to exceed area sales and customer ‘point of sale’ (POS) targets through the promotion, service, and sale of company products and programs in an established territory. This will be accomplished through the development of excellent customer relationships, coupled with timely and exemplary field execution. This position covers the Saskatchewan territory.
Job Description
Provide Service
- Provide exceptional service including sales and merchandising tactics that improve productivity, product knowledge, and selling sessions. Ensure product display functionality, merchandising, ordering, and inventory management (including ordering, reconciliation, in-stock management, selling through overages, and timely returns). Manage marketing and promotional programs for each customer base.
Sales Planning, Achievement, and Reporting
- Outline an Area Business Plan supporting company goals and targets.
- Grow the business by increasing listings and gaining shelf/off-shelf space for new and existing products at home centre locations.
- Develop and strengthen relationships with key decision-makers and sales staff.
- Liaise with internal departments (e.g., customer orders, credits, technical assistance, marketing, warehouse).
- Communicate accomplishments, threats, opportunities, and issues in a timely manner to management.
Other Responsibilities
- Participate in special projects such as new store setups, overnight resets, tradeshows, and weekend events.
- Assist in developing and setting up product line and customer-specific plan-o-grams.
- Assist in creating merchandising prototypes (e.g., bath hardware organizers) and POP materials for in-store use (end-caps, wing stacks, cross-merchandising).
- Prepare standard and ad-hoc reports as required.
- Perform heavy lifting (e.g., faucet master packs, bath shelf organizers) and climb ladders to restock stock.
- Adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
- Additional store accounts may be assigned.
- Manage an expense plan budget and maintain company property in excellent condition.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in business, sales, or marketing preferred or equivalent experience.
- Valid driver’s license for the province of employment.
- 2-5 years of in-store merchandising or outside sales experience.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Self-motivated with excellent time management skills.
- Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills.
- Team player with a proactive, positive attitude and interpersonal skills.
- Proven track record in customer service and sales achievement.
- Ability to work independently with integrity and honesty.
- Ability to develop and execute a sales plan for the area.
- Retail experience or coursework in merchandising/retailing is an asset.
- Experience building in-store displays and prototypes using hand/power tools.
- Willingness to travel overnight (including air) and work non-standard hours.
- Willingness to relocate for account/store realignment.
