Job Description

PURPOSE OF POSITION :

Entry level position. This role involves generating new business, maintaining growth of existing accounts within a specific geographic region, and learning about the industry to support future sales needs. The candidate assesses potential applications of company products/services, offers solutions to meet customer needs, and researches and presents reports on the cost benefits of Altec products. Provides technical training to clients and communicates customer feedback for product development. Uses technical knowledge of product offerings to support and build sales.

Major Responsibilities
  • Answer customer inquiries regarding products, prices, availability, uses, and credit terms.
  • Arrange for machinery installation and test operation.
  • Attend sales and trade meetings; stay informed on market conditions and industry trends.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on selling strategies and marketing information.
  • Complete expense, sales reports, and other paperwork.
  • Participate in product and development training as required.
  • Calculate customer installation or production costs and estimate savings from new services or products.
  • Consult with engineers on technical issues.
  • Engage with new and existing customers to discuss needs and solutions.
  • Demonstrate product operation and explain features based on customer needs and product capabilities.
  • Identify prospective customers using directories, leads, organizations, and trade shows.
  • Inform customers about delivery schedules, warranties, and service contracts.
  • Initiate sales campaigns following marketing plans to meet sales targets.
  • Maintain customer records using automated systems.
  • Negotiate prices and sales/service terms.
  • Gather specifications for engineering bids.
  • Prepare sales contracts and submissions.
  • Develop sales presentations and proposals.
  • Provide ongoing technical support to customers.
  • Gather product feedback for design improvements.
  • Quote prices and bid specifications.
  • Assist customers in product selection based on needs and regulations.
  • Sell service contracts for products.
  • Stay informed about new products for accurate depiction and recommendations.
  • Verify customer credit ratings and equipment trade-in values.
  • Ensure materials lists and delivery schedules meet project deadlines.
  • Visit establishments to evaluate needs and promote sales.
Education, Experience, and Skills Required
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Engineering, Marketing, or Business preferred.
  • Availability for extensive overnight travel.
  • Valid driver’s license required; some roles may require a Commercial Driver’s License.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in PC applications including spreadsheets and word processing.
