Job Summary
The Sales Representative is a vital role that serves as the consultant and support system for customers during and after their purchase of Spudnik Equipment products. The Sales Representative is responsible for the successful initiation and completion of whole goods, parts, and service sales to existing and potential customers. Additionally, the Sales Representative will be responsible for identifying and capturing opportunities for new customer relationships and maintaining those relationships by ensuring excellent customer service and satisfaction. The Sales Representative will demonstrate high levels of responsibility and accountability, working effectively and efficiently at all times.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities

- Cultivate long-lasting relationships, develop trust, and be a true consultant to customers and dealers based upon their individual needs;
- Organize time and resources to ensure adequate contact with all customers within the specified sales area. Expand and improve sales network by attending conferences, agricultural shows, and conventions;
- Perform the initial setup and adjustment of all equipment sold;
- Identify the root cause of problems and actively participate in the direction, support, and execution of any needed repair;
- Be an expert for assigned sales area by understanding soil types, climate, customer settings, equipment needs, potato varieties, market pricing, competitor incentives and marketing activities, etc., and respond appropriately to individual customer needs;
- Understand the features and benefits of Spudnik equipment, including technology advancements like GPS, controllers, etc. as compared to our competition and be able to effectively communicate these features, benefits, values, and why Spudnik is the superior choice above the competition;
- Play an active role in driving product improvements and new developments for assigned area of responsibility;
- Complete sales orders to customer’s specifications and approval. Keep accurate records for forecasting, planning, and customer data. Prepare sales forecasts as required;
- Review sales orders and drawings with engineering when necessary to assure quality and accuracy;
- Set up payment or financing arrangements, collect payments, initiate collections of late and overdue accounts;
- Set and attain goals as agreed upon with Management in obtaining higher margins, expanding customer base, and providing top-rate customer service.

Qualifications
- Three to five years of agricultural based sales experience. Experience in the potato and sugar beet industry helpful, but not required;
- Knowledge of agricultural equipment operation and farming practices;
- Well-developed mechanical skills and knowledge of farm equipment service and set up;
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate in person, by phone, email, or via other forms of communication;
- Ability to take direction and be responsive to supervision;
- Demonstrated integrity, reliability, and self-motivation;
- Basic computer skills with the ability to learn new programs and maintain data;
- Knowledge of and ability to perform basic mathematical calculations (add, subtract, divide and multiply);
- Must possess a valid driving license and the ability to travel extensively;
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle in a safe manner;
- Ability to regularly lift 50 pounds.
