Job description

We are looking to recruit a driven, ambitious individual to join our SEAT/CUPRA team in Grimsby.

This is a fabulous opportunity to join a family-run business in the AM top 50 and represent one of our fantastic manufacturer partners. This role comes with a competitive basic salary of £30,000 with an achievable OTE of £60,000.

About Our Business

Our business started over 60 years ago and has been in the same family ever since. From our humble beginnings, we have grown to be in the top 50 car dealers in the country. Across our 26 businesses, we have a stable workforce of over 600 people, many of whom have been with us for years. We are always on the lookout for nice, genuine people who genuinely care about our customers and have a can-do attitude.

Our recruitment philosophy is that we recruit for attitude and train for skills, which means that although we’re often looking for specific technical skills, if you like working with customers and you are attracted by our Family Values of Fit, Fun, Family, and Fearless, you’ll fit in well here. We’d like to hear from you even if you have no experience in the automotive industry.

We offer manufacturer training for product knowledge to give you the technical skills you need, and we work with our own world-class sales trainer who will equip you to be a “top one percenter”.

We expect you to work hard, but in return, we’ll offer you an industry-leading package, flexible working hours, and a real opportunity to progress. We prefer to promote from within, and you will see this in every one of our sites. You must possess an outrageous ambition to be the best and not let anyone stop you.

About You

We are recruiting for an experienced and highly talented Sales Manager to join our successful team at our York dealership. Reporting to the Dealer Principal, your main responsibilities will include controlling the Sales team, managing all budgeted targets, ensuring operational standards are met, and maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction and retention. You will play a key role in identifying business opportunities and fostering the long-term growth of the dealership, team, and individual team members.

This individual will be self-motivated and able to lead from the front. You will create and develop a customer service-driven environment through regular communication, team building, and coaching within the Sales Department.

Key Objectives of a Sales Manager
  • Achieve and strive to exceed all sales targets through a motivated sales team.
  • Manage the training and development of sales staff to support performance improvements and career growth.
  • Delegate responsibilities appropriately and monitor progress.
  • Work with the Dealer Principal to formulate policies and procedures for maximum profitability.
  • Develop strategies and action plans to increase business and meet sales volume and profitability targets.
  • Oversee sales campaigns, advertising, and promotional activities to maximize sales and maintain a positive brand image.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements.
  • Build strong relationships with financial institutions and relevant businesses.
  • Maximize sales and profitability through customer satisfaction and retention.
  • Communicate effectively with customers to establish long-term marketing objectives.

Handle dissatisfied customers calmly, resolve complaints sensitively, and involve others when necessary.

What We Offer
  • World-class training from our own trainer and brand partners
  • 30 days annual leave, including 8 bank holidays, increasing with service
  • Preferential rates for servicing and repairs for your family and friends’ cars
  • Workplace pension scheme
  • Company demonstrator
  • Excellent salary and OTE
Hours

Your working hours are between 8:00 am to 6:30 pm, Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm on Saturdays, and 10:30 am to 4:00 pm on Sundays. You will work on a shift pattern covering these hours, averaging 41.5 hours per week over a 4-week period.

We are an equal opportunity employer committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. We do not discriminate based on race, ethnicity, gender, age, national origin, religion, disability, or other characteristics.
