Job description

Hyatt Regency Vancouver is seeking a talented, career-minded, dedicated guest service professional with a passion for excellence to join our Sales team as Sales Manager.

Salary range: $73,000 - $82,000 per year. Eligible for incentive program.

The Sales Manager brings experience in group sales, business travel sales, and event sales. This role is responsible for growing business in the group and select transient segments by developing existing accounts and securing new business for the hotel. The Sales Manager is also accountable for achieving assigned monthly and quarterly sales goals.

Primary responsibilities include responding to incoming inquiries and proactively soliciting new business across various segments, including group and transient markets. This role involves selling guest rooms, meeting space, food and beverage services, and other Hyatt offerings for meetings and conventions.

The Sales Manager collaborates closely with the Events, Revenue Management, Reservations, and Operations departments to ensure the smooth execution of all booked business. We seek a strong team player with experience in both group and transient sales at a medium to large-sized property.

Candidates must be flexible with their work schedules to accommodate business demands, including occasional early mornings, evenings, and/or weekends.

Key duties include:

  1. Actively solicit and secure new meetings business through outside calls, personal calls, site inspections, prospecting via telephone and email, and potentially sales trips to designated areas.
  2. Meet and exceed revenue sales goals monthly, quarterly, and annually.
  3. Maintain strong relationships with existing accounts to rebook annual or past programs.
  4. Generate new clientele opportunities through referrals, customer recommendations, and market awareness.
  5. Develop creative sales solutions and conduct site inspections to position Hyatt as the premier meeting venue in Vancouver.
  6. Proactively adhere to weekly sales activity targets to meet individual and team goals.
  7. Source new accounts in corporate, association, and union sectors to maintain a diverse portfolio.
  8. Respond promptly to client requests, ensuring proposals and contracts meet expectations and hotel guidelines.
  9. Participate in business review meetings, trade shows, industry functions, and out-of-town sales calls as needed.
  10. Engage with on-site groups and coordinate with Events and Operations teams to ensure client satisfaction.
  11. Maintain relationships with Hyatt Sales Force directors and local industry organizations such as Destination Vancouver.
  12. Stay informed about competitors and market industry changes.
  13. Provide regular activity reports to the Director of Sales and Marketing.
  14. Partner with the operations team to coordinate client needs and respond to opportunities.
Qualifications
  • College degree or high school diploma with related experience.
  • Previous hotel sales management experience, especially in Business Travel, Tour, and Wholesale markets, is an asset.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English; additional languages are a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills, including leading and participating in presentations.
  • Strong prospecting, negotiation, and closing skills.
  • Solid organizational skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Knowledge of TravelClick BI products and STR reports.
  • Experience with major hotel brands preferred.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and deliver high-quality customer service.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and efficiency.
